Kick off to 2012

I can't believe we are nearly approaching the end of January. Time surely has a way of sneaking by us when we're busy. I'm pleased to say that this year has taken off on a good note. We received hubby's grades back for 1st semester and he did exceptionally well. I'm very proud of him.

We started off the year by heading to the cottage. It was such a relaxing week recovering from the busy holiday season. We had brought steaks, shrimp, Louisiana sausage links, and wine. Hubby grilled while I baked a few things such as blueberry muffins for breakfast. We cuddled by the fire and read books for three days. It was awesome.

In the evening we'd watch the barges run up and down the Mississippi as the sunset began to melt away. I loved the solitude this trip provided. It really helps recharge the batteries when you don't have to compete with busy schedules or demanding electronics (i.e. correspondence).

I started back working out at the club. I have even broke down and hired a trainer. We have a love/hate relationship. I love him but hate what he makes me do, HA!

I've also started back at the yoga studio near the house. I'm really uncoordinated so I was a bit hesitant about taking yoga in a group setting. However, it has been really great. I'm really glad that I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and made myself join. I always feel great after a session.

What have y'all been up to?

  1. Congrats on your hubby for doing exceptionally well in his studies. Sounds like you really had a very relaxing trip. I have been in Fl since Dec. 18 and I am starting to miss my home. But I am enjoying my children's company and playing with grand kids. when you have a chance, please come by and read my post before this last one. It's about my grand kids, mostly about one of the 9 day old twins rare natal teeth....Christine

    1. That is really amazing regarding the natal teeth. I've never heard of a baby born with teeth. I thought being a twin was special but she's truly special. They are too precious. You have such a beautiful family.

  5. Beautiful pics from your vacation! Reminds me a lot of the movie Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. I'm almost sure you've seen it or read the book (which I love even more than the movie), but if you haven't, you've just got to. I love yoga too! This is def the time of year to be getting back on track-I was terrible over the holidays. Let me know how your pizza turned out and how you made it! :-)

    1. I just love that movie. I thought it was really cute. There's so many funny scenes from that movie that I really got a kick out of.

As for my pizza, my husband wouldn't touch it. We ended up ordering one. Yes, after all that work. I'll have to get your recipe because this one just didn't turn out.
